Suomenlinnan Seth Lager

This reddish lager with rye and wheat added to the mix is from Finnish capital and its small fort island Suomenlinna/Sveaborg. Smell has some odd perfume kind of twist. Head disappears faster than I could spell pussycat. Taste is carbondioxided, sharp, ryeish, sweet but aftertaste reveals also some kind of bitterness. Odd mixture of different grain. Still not convinced of use of rye in beers, not many have been very pleasant I have tasted. Still this has some depth that many of its industrial cousins (aka bulk lager shit) lack. Not my favorite brewery from these Finnish craft masters as they still tend to do maybe too “easy” beers for my taste – maybe just too much bulk crowd pleasing or something in these beers in general.

** Drinkable as a beer
*** OK for a lager compared to bulk industrial shit
