Amager Hr. Frederiksen

Imperial Stout from Denmark. A Well-respected beer as I have read many raving reviews about this one.   Scent/Smell/Aroma reminds me of some of the greatest imperial stouts (eg. Stone Russian Imperial Stout). Coffee with sweetness in it. Quite strong and nice flavor. Maybe some portwine feel to it? Chocolate and liquorice. Great.   First taste is heavenly. Nutty, dark chocolate, rich sweet maltiness, coffee. Fucking great balance of dry hoppiness and sweet maltiness. Nice hoppy bite of Centennial comes after all these other sensations and makes this taste absolutely perfect.   My kind of Imperial Stout!   ****+ Magnificent   Specs: 10,5% ABV. Pilsner malt, CaraMunich malt, Black malt, Chocolate malt, Wheat malt and roasted barley malt. Tomahawk and Centennial Hops. Water, sugar and yeast.

BrewDog Nanny State

Nice copper brown beer. Familiar BrewDoggy style of citrus hoppy flavors – nice! There is even a nice head with the lovely aroma. Why is it then at all surprising? That’s because this beer is regarged as “non-alcoholic” or at least very low alcohol level –beer with only 0,5% ABV.   Of course there is a bit of a down side of the low alcohol level, which is a bit watery body, as I finally taste this fine brew, but hell, this still tastes fucking good for me! I have never tasted any low alcoholic or non-alcoholic beer, which would have been even good, but this is fucking great!    8 malts, dry-hopped with Amarillo and Centennial. Citrus, orange, grapefruit. Imperial Mild, truly! This was a counterstrike to those health fanatics that were concerned about BrewDog’s wildest, strongest stuff. This is also BrewDog’s way of saying Fuck You to all multinational corporations making their cheap and tasteless piss with or without alcohol. Hell, they can make better beers almost wit

Buckler Non-Alcoholic

Well, a beer enthusiast has his/her ups and downs, highs and lows. I guess you already know, where I’m now at and it’s not the happiest of places, beerwise. But, obviously it’s nice to experiment. As I enjoyed my steaming hot sauna just earlier, it’s nice to have some “saunakalja” as we Finns call it. Although I’m not sure, if this shit qualifies. Let’s see what we have here:   A Dutch light lager or “malt-beverage” with below 0,5% ABV has water, malted barley and hops. Flavor is a bit icky, just malty sweetness, not pleasant – obviously. Taste is bulky lagerlike, but aftertaste is the worst, just this sweet maltiness. But hey, this is non-alcoholic, or at least almost. Actually I bought these in the final days of my 90-day stint of not drinking any alcohol, but at time I decided to be strict as hell and not drank this lovely 0,5% “treat” :P    This was so bad, that I had to drink some water and start chewing gum to just get this awful aftertaste out of my mouth.    He

Belhaven Twisted Thistle IPA

Long time no beerblogging. My 90-day stint from drinking (not a rehab, though) any alcohol was successful. After that I have been mainly living my everyday family life, but also drank some beer. First I was in a gig in one of my home towns’ liveliest music bars, Rock House Kulma. Kajaani-based Jari Rättyä was there with his band performing magnificent Finnish folky blues. Not being particularly a beer enthusiast heaven, I mainly drank Brooklyn Brewery’s American Ale which is my favorite drink in Kulma and a great session APA. I also had one Brooklyn East India Pale Ale, but it’s English vibe lost a mile to American Ale’s nice citruslike hoppy freshness.   But yeah, I also had a night with my Gentlemen’s Club dudes, but you might guess what shit karaoke bar served. Although we were at Czech styled Hospoda Koruna the main part of the night, I didn’t drink any Czech beers, and there wasn’t many highlights beerwise. Only new beer for me in Hospoda was this Belhaven’s IPA, so
