Interlude: Jimbo's summer break

So, it's summer and it's holiday. Best possible beer from the grocery store in glass and a nice summer evening with food and peace. Here's my summer break -video with Nokian Keisari 66 APA, which I actually have reviewed earlier but this is kind of a afterword or second opinion after more experience with this beautiful and tasty beer. There are those funny word choices in the video and one actual error, when I mentioned my sister's "wife" - I should have said husband, but actually I have made a similar error once in a Finnish wedding too (and in Finnish language), when I was a bestman for my dear friend and called him accidentally a potentially very good "vaimo" (=wife) in my speech :) Have a nice summer everyone and cheers&peace to y'all! And all you Finnish dudes and dudettes - drink Finnish Craft beer and let those industrial lagers stay on the shelves. pic from http://revolutionjkl.fi

Nøgne Ø Two Captains

Splendid scent/smell, Double IPA at its best. Fruity, citrus, grapefruit, magic. Taste is double IPA in its best too, might as well be their #500, which was great. This is wonderful beer. I could drink this all night long, if I could, but I can’t, unfortunately :P   Still, I must admit – and I’m a bit astonished at myself – that I liked that earlier India Saison even better than this. This is awesome, but that India Saison has a special twist that made it top 3 beer this year. This is still fucking great. **** Great

Nøgne Ø / Bridge Road India Saison

So, here’s very interesting collaboration! Norwegian craft brewery masters and Australian dudes giving their local hop overdose. Clear looking beer, not that saisonish as Belgian ones and scent/smell is also much more IPAish, fruity, grapefuitlike like in many fresh American Styled IPAs and APAs. Very, very good scent/smell. Taste is a unique collaboration of Belgian styled saison and IPA hop overdose, not very fresh tasting like those earlier reviewed saisons, but still very, very good. Hoppiness is the main thing here, on top of everything. And I must say, this is easily the best hop overdosed beer I’ve had this year, because I have had – but not reviewed – couple of American beers, new and old, in bars and home, that were very bitter but lacked the wonderful freshness and fruitiness of this beer. Splendid, wonderful, tasty, good smelling, nice and drinkable but still very unique and multi-flavored beer. Absolutely in the Jimbo's top 3 beers this year. **** Great

Grimbergen Blanche

Wow, what a nice scent/smell this Belgian wit has – like fresh fruits all over, but also some nice yeasty stuff, not over the top yeasty, still. Very foggy/hazy light yellow look. Taste is quite easy, a bit bitterness in aftertaste. Very nice summer beer indeed. I’m beginning to like these Belgian beers! *** OK

Dupont Saison Dupont Biologique

Real Belgian saison for a change, and a very good one. I’m not really fan of saison’s or even Belgian style of beers in general, but this is a nice one, real stuff and nicely brewed. Hazy yellow but not very yeasty. Of course Belgian yeasts taste, but mildly and nicely for my taste buds. Smell is, well, Belgian :)   Taste is nice and summerlike. Organic beer, 5,5% alc vol. Can’t find anything very special about this, but this is still a classy saison and I like this very much. Very good drinkability.   *** OK

Interlude: Backwoods beer writing

It’s been a while since I updated this blog or even made a review. First there was my honest try to cut down my drinking alcohol – which is almost 99% of the time beer – and then there was summer. I’ve not become an absolutist, but the abusive use of alcohol had to end. I’m fortunate, that I’m a “beer drunk”, as it is still a mild alcohol drink, but maybe it was those words from one woman earlier in the spring, when she described her ex as “an alcoholic, who only drinks beer ”. This might not be very popular topic in beer drinking community and I detest all kinds of moral condemning when it’s the adult people’s own choise how and when and what he/she wants to drink (or inhale or whatever). Still, it’s important for me to acknowledge that drinking beer is not just harmless hobby, when you can’t handle the alcohol in it. Still, I love beer. Drink of the people. I hope I can form a new relationship with my beloved beer – a civilized and not-abusive way of enjoying the best drink th
