Saimaan Marsalkka Golden Ale Luomu

Organic filtered golden ale from Saimaan Juomatehdas, Finland. Head is fast as a shark to disappear. Scent is sweet and fruity, maybe some plum too. Appearance is a bit like with some pear cider. Taste is kinda ciderish too, in a way (not sweet, but dry). Fruity, yeah, a bit bitter too at the beginning. Aftertaste is not very pleasant, like some apple juice or something. I hate apple juice, by the way.
Well, this is hoppy, in a refreshing way, but a bit odd experience for me because of those very noticeable apple and cider associations and at the same time not very much maltiness. Maybe this is meant to be like this. But this lacks balance, that great beers have. This is a nice experiment, but not necessarily a pleasant experience. For some, this might be the best beer there is. If you have cider-loving friends, dear beer folk, let them try this and say, if they like this new kind of beer or not.
As I don’t really like ciders, and this is almost disturbingly ciderlike, and reminds me even of some horrible apple juice, this just doesn’t work for me right now (or ever). Still, of course, million times better than those other beverages mentioned.

** Drinkable
