Bryggeri Sofia Imperial Stout

This includes roasted barley and roasted spelt wheat (also known as dinkel or hulled wheat), which is a historical grain that nowadays is produced as a health food. Bryggeri, a Helsinki-based indie brewery has brewed their try on the majestic Imperial Stout. And succeeded. Not a fanciest of them, nor the most exceptional, huge or spectacular. Still this has beautiful, amazing look, nice scent and very very good coffeelike smooth and enjoyable taste. I can't think of nothing to complain, so have to summarize my feelings for this as just being great stuff! **** Great

Boulevard Single-Wide IPA

I'm a little bit IPA-overloaded; So many IPA's out there that only the best stand out. This is quite basic American-styled IPA - hoppy, crunchy beer that goes down easily, and gives enough of that nice hoppy bitterness. Nothing less, nothing more. *** OK

Young’s London Ale

In a local wine bar. Nice jazz night ahead with my wife who had sweet portwine. Not a lot of beers served, so Young’s it is.  Wow, I’m impressed! Very nice copper brown full-bodied, malty, but also hoppy beer.  Very, very good English Ale with a great malty feel with enough hops to balance the beer. **** Great traditional Ale

Mallaskosken Rainy Summer Wheat Lager

I was a bit afraid that this might be watery lager, but actually this is a wonderful, refreshing, juicy and crispy at the same time.  Mosaic hops deliver nice hoppiness. Wheat gives nice counterpart to basic barley based lager.  Just 4,7% ABV but the body is balanced and I liked this a lot. Easy-drinkable but not watery at all. ***+ OK **** Great for a lager

To Øl Sur Simcoe

Fresh hoppy juicy scent. Taste is what it promises: sour. This is kinda odd, lemon juice –like sour Simcoe hop –infused session pale ale. Citrusy vibe with grapefruit. Not a lot “beerlike”, if you know what I mean. This could have worked with more malts and more body, but its not bad either, just a bit odd. **+ Drinkable with a nice twist

Founders Dirty Bastard

Scotch Style Ale from a bottle in local Maria P, which is a nice little local wine-specialized bar, but occasionally there is some nice beers too. And this definitely is nice!  This is perfect stylistically. Never had better Scotch Ale, though this is American of course, Founders delivers.  Perfect balance of malty sweetness and nice bitter hoppiness. Smooth, creamy, full-bodied. Wow, this is just great! **** Great ****+ Perfect for a Scotch Ale

VASP Prykmestar Lakritsiporter

pic by Mikko Karvonen @mckarvonen On tap in local Hospoda Koruna. No head, maybe these are the last drops from a keg (that is not the picture of my beer...).  Kinda off, dry liquorice root, herbal taste. A bit watery. Feels like black lager. A slightly unpleasant bitter finish. Burned coffee and ash. Maybe that liquorice gives some refreshing vibe, but this is not good. ** Drinkable
