Nøgne Ø Red Horizon 2. edition

Is it yule already? Red metallic carton, red paper, red etiquette. And sake yeast from the land of the Rising Sun.   Still this is Norwegian magic brewed back in 2011. Santa hide (X Japan Cosplay) Dark brown liquid pours in glass. No head, wtf? Scent has sweetness and alcohol, maybe also plum and berries, or juice from those berries. This has that barleywine/portwine strong sweetness, definitely.   Taste is HUGE!!! It fills your mouth with unbelievable sensations. WTF is in this? Well, that sake yeast, at least. HUH. Strong and powerful beer. Absolutely a noticeable Nøgne Ø –feel to it. This might have been expensive for its size of 250ml bottle, but still, it is not an easy task for anyone to have a beer like this with 13,5% alcohol and lots of taste – and by lots I mean a mouthful of lots and lots :) Wow. I’m almost speechless. Taste this, if you want to have extremely good extreme beer. Not for pussies. Definitely for all ya beer enthusiasts out t

Westvleteren XII

So, I had my 40 th birthday and spent a very nice weekend in Hell sinki with my sister and her lovely family. I also met my dear old friend, ate well, went to a fucking cool rap-gig - and bought some beers from Alko Arkadia. I thought I’d buy all the Stone brewery beers I could find, but I did not buy any :/   Got just some odd ball stuff, I’ve never earlier had. Like this gem of a beer – at least by its reputation. Belgian (warrior)monks are maybe the best brewers in the world. They might not have any holy powers to help in the process, but they sure have traditions, history and all the coolest ingredients. Pours glass darkish brown. Huge head, which is very thick and stays and stays forever. Scent has yeasty flowery stuff in it, some sweetness and plum too. Maybe even perfumishly flowerlike scent :) Taste is at first kinda soft, then more bitter, very nice tickling on top of the tongue, aftertaste very warming and releasing all kinds of yeasty magic. Green Flash Le Freak

Hoppy mixture of American stylish IPA and Belgian trippel. But “Le Freak”? Not really. Quite pleasant and mild, I might say, as it is really not too hoppy or Belgish, just something nice and easy from the middle. Scent was yeasty, taste was a real mixture and in the aftertaste the hoppy bitterness rules. Actually leaves me with a good feeling about this beer, but this is nothing spectacular. *** OK

Sinebrychoff & Brooklyn Two Tree Porter

Wow. Very pleasant beer from the Finnish Giant. No wonder, though. Sinebrychoff’s best beer, well-respected Koff Porter has had its tuning with very hip-collaboration style. Brooklyn Brewery made this with Sinebrychoff. Its based of course in classic Koff Porter, but maple syrup is from New York and there are also Finnish spruce sprout (kuusenkerkkä in Finnish). So, what else? Maybe some “softness” to the original porter, which is a classic in its own. This is a fucking great brew too! I don’t know which one’s better, but must do a duel sometime near future… Maybe something about taste: Burned sweet coffee, perfect porter taste! **** Great

St. Eriks October

Swedish beer for the German celebrations of beer. This is not light coloured German, this is a bit darker, maybe copper/amber brown beer with nice hoppy bitter feel. Scent is a bit disappointing for me. Maybe my two week lasting flu has something to do with that, but maybe also the comparison on Punk IPA that I had earlier tonight. Scent is a bit English, I guess. Taste gives the same feeling: Fuller’s ales have the same tastes as this. Malty, nutty, a bit sweet and toffeelike. But this has nice hoppy back-kick too. I’m not a fan, but still this is quite pleasant in its own genre – I say, this feels like an English Ale, Oktoberfest bier or not. *** OK
