Malmgård Emmer Tripel

Golden Ale with distinctive Belgian yeasty smell. Tripel this is, but without over the top feel. This is like an easy-drinking version of St Feuillien's Tripel or something like that. Beer has some bitterness and taste is better and better with every sip. This has distinctive Malmgård vibe, which I love! Not just another tripel-copy, but a huge drinkable tripel from the Finnish indie kings! First bites in video mode . ****+ Instant classic!

Schneider Weisse Tap4 Mein Grunes

Wow! Germans know how to do these beers. I have been very skeptic about German beermaking in general, because it is mainly so “traditional” which means reinheitsgebot and such shit. But, this is a fucking good beer. Scent/smell reveals that this has that “Belgian” vibe, but this is still a wheat beer made the German way, in Bavaria. Very, very good. Taste is huge! This has all the wheat beer vibes, but also barley vibes, perfect balance. I haven’t drunk these earlier a lot, as I don’t prefer wheat beers, but you know, if you want the best of those, try this! Fucking good!   **** Great wheat beer

Founders Centennial IPA

Double IPA with 7,2% ABV, 65 IBU. Noticeably hoppy aroma. Pinewood. Lacks citruslike freshness, just some bitter grapefruit. Bitterness rules the taste, but there are also sweetness here, nuttiness, even toffeelike British IPA feel. I’m not a big fan of overdoing IPA-characteristics and this does include them all in one beer, I guess. Overtuned with dryhopping and doubling the shit.  Alcohol comes through, very sharp, not at all enjoyable feel in my mouth.  I prefer fresh APAs over any IPA and this is particularly no-good for me. Maybe this isn’t fresh anymore and gone bad…For me this is just drinkable, definitely a big disappointment as I like Founders All Day IPA very much. ** Drinkable (maybe it wasn’t fresh enough…)

St Feuillien Tripel

Belgian yellow golden tripel with noticeable Belgian yeasty vibe in it’s smell. A long lasting head and much carbonation. Beer looks golden and clear, even with all the yeast in the glass. Very bitter sharp Belgian styled yeasty taste turn into flavors of coriander and flowery fruits. Yeast rules the palette and gives some herbal and maybe even grassy, earthy feel to this beer. I don’t know, what to think about this…this is good in it’s own Belgish way, drinkable but not very easily, still weirdly refreshing. Especially for the friends of Belgian styled ales. Spicy yeasty stuff and in my humble opinion better than for example Rochefort 10 :) *** OK

Trappistes Rochefort 10

Sweet, nutty smell. Powerful scent of sweetness and alcohol, like rum. Taste has sweet maltiness, bitterness, nuttiness. Alcohol warms as the beer goes down. This has 11,3% ABV, so very strong and powerful stuff. Very complex and interesting. Not for easy-drinking, that’s for sure. Dark brown, misty ale with quite long lasting head, though it’s not that thick. Winelike strong Belgian trappist beer tastes like history of beermaking. It opens up slowly and gives many sensations of ripe fruits, mainly plum. It has sharpness of alcohol, but also nutty softness. Very complex and kinda difficult. I wouldn’t recommend this to someone trying to find new tastes after just basic bulk beers. This is for beer enthusiasts and people who enjoy beer over any other drink. For me this works just ok, because sweetness and alcohol push too hard over the other sensations. I prefer modern hoppier beers that are a mix of sweet and bitter, dryness and softness. This is too sharp and heavy fo
