So, here’s another craftbeer from Pori, Finland. Pori is known, at least in Finland, for Pori Jazz, the most significant jazz festival in Finland, Porin Ässät, the ice hockey team and some of the best pop/rock groups of the 1980’s like Dingo and Yö. Beer scene knows Pori from Karhu, the most sold Finnish beer. Sadly Sinebrychoff stopped brewing Karhu in its original brewing place Pori, so Pori was fucked in the ass, brew-wise. From the ashes, however, rose BeerHunter’s, which is nowadays one of the most prolific craftbreweries in Finland. Their Mufloni-series is astounding: IPA, CCCCC IPA and their outstanding Saison de Randonneur Kataja Edition have been superb. Here’s some “breakfast” stout, as “aamupala” means breakfast. Some oats here and we Finns like our “kaurapuuro” (oats porridge). It is also very popular in Russia and – which I found astonishing as well – in Caribbean, where it seems to be the most popular porridge. This is no porridge, though :)
A nice smelling stoat with roasted malts and hint of sweetness.Taste is stouty, if you know what I mean (ashes, dry burned shit). This is (for a stout) very easy drinkable and a bit too light in flavor and body. I would love to see their imperial stout, however!
Nice, good breakfast, but not very pleasant night warmer. This is a bit too thin in taste and body to be a pleasant drink in its own and as I don’t consider stout to be a drink for thirst (not even for thirst for a beer), the only purpose would be with some accordingly served food. A bit disappointed, because I really loved their IPA and CCCCC IPA. Still OK, this is in no way a bad beer, just not great either.
*** OK
