Interlude: Gateway theory of a beer blogger - or enthusiast, if you will

In Finland we call it "porttiteoria" and in English it goes by the name Gateway theory which means roughly that first you use substance a, then it leads to b and so on. The theory itself deals mostly with so called "steppingstone substances" (mainly pot) that (allegedly) eventually cause people to go to heavier stuff, but I'm not going deeper into that shit. If you wanna get high, you wanna get high, simple as that. But, in a viewpoint of a beer lover, an enthusiast, and some kind of sorry beer blogger it just came to my mind, that I need to write about this, because of the way that varieties of the beer world and the craftbeer movement have opened up my eyes (and every other sense linked to beer enthusiasm) and there is no turning back to piss, I used to drink earlier. I was just taking a dump, when I googled with my cell other beer blogs and one old review of Arde's came through, don't know why. It was about Finnish Sinebrychoff's Karhu Ru...

Interlude: Unique prices for my 12 beers and a glass from Brewdog

So let's start from the shipping costs: Shipping 25£ = € 28.7350 / 13 items = € 2.21 per item. I could have ordered up to 25 bottles to that same shipment, so the shipping costs for one item could be dropped from that to € 1.15. I however did not order that much, so here are the unique prices for my bottles and a glass including the divided shipment cost: Teku Glass (Teku BrewDog Glass) x 1 @ £2.99 = € 3.4367 + € 2.21 = € 5.65 <3 Really fucking beautiful glass, so definitely worth it Punk IPA (330ml Bottle) x 1 @ £1.69 = € 1.9425 + € 2.21 = € 4.16 *** OK, finally I got one of these, so worth it Green Flash Hop Head Red (355ml Bottle) x 1 @ £3.15 = € 3.6206 + € 2.21 = € 5.83 *** OK, nice beer, but necessarily would not buy another   Green Flash Double Stout (330ml Bottle) x 1 @ £3.49 = € 4.0114 + € 2.21 = € 6.23 **** Great, so worth every penny Rooie Dop Utrecht Strong Ale (330ml Bottle) x 1 @ £5.89 = € 6.77 + € 2.21 = € 8.98 **** Great, so worth every penny Anarchist / ...

Suomenlinna Piper Wit

Prologue: At first I threw this review away, because I thought, that there's no use reviewing something, that you didn't like very much and all you do is basically complain...but still, maybe it serves the purpose of beer blogging in general: Not every beer is a classic, great or even ok. There are lots of basic beers that are just drinkable for my taste, but they can be good or great for someone else. So please bear in mind, that my reviews are MY reviews and made in one occasion usually only after drinking one bottle of that beer, that can sometimes be too cold or the food or something else is affecting my senses. Foggy wheat ale. Yeasty scent. A bit watery wit... Very poor aftertaste, like paper or cardboard. I don't want to complain, but for me this was just very basic ordinary beer lacking any real interest. Not bad, but not good either. ** Drinkable

Rooie Dop Utrecht Strong Ale

Bought from Brewdog-webstore. Brewed by Rooie Dop in Utrecht, Netherlands . 9,1% vol alcohol. Very nice hoppy aroma. I have been nosing it for a while now, without actually drinking any, so good it is :) Lovely. Maybe the best hop-loving beer I have tasted for a long time. Very dry, but very lovely. **** Great PS. Really is great, because after drinking still the taste remains for a long time – for the final time I have to say: Lovely! :D

Green Flash Brewing Double Stout

America. What a wonderful (beer) country. Sick but sweet. This is San Diego stuff. Arde knows everything about those. Wow, what a head! Nice taste, fuck! This is good stout. This I like. This is not too dry, nor too sweet. Perfect. **** Great

Ayinger Winter Bock - 2nd opinion

Uuh, that sweet head! Black lager this is, you know, bockers! Scent is awfully sweet dark lager shit. Taste is kinda sweet dark lagerish malty. I'm not a fan of this kind of beer. It's nice that Germans brew these beers, but I should not buy them (German beers), as they seem generally not to be my cup of tea. ** Drinkable, still even *** OK in its own category PS. I have reviewed this earlier , so that's why this is  "2nd opinion"...

Green Flash Brewing Hop Head Red

Amber red hoppy shit. But hey, is this bottle fermented shit, as this is full of yeasty stuff? Maybe. Looks like some yeast army has gone wild in my glass as I (of course) poured everything to glass. Scent is very hoppy, as expected. Not much citrus though. Taste is hoppy bitter, as expected. Not much else though. But hey, this is supposed to be "amber ale with hops" I think. That it really is. Hops dominate as I drink more of it, not bad. Starts to feel like yeast and warmth and hops are now attacking together. It's kinda weak attack, but I'm not in a mood of war-making, so I accept. This is ok, dudes, good work back there far far away. *** OK
