Suomenlinna Hoppe IPA

Finnish indie IPA. Smell is not at all like in those american grape fruit & citrus hop bombs. More malty stuff here, traditional English IPA style you know. Taste is gently bitter and the malts rule, but hops go along nicely.
Very nice beer! Perhaps the best from this Finnish fort brewery from Suomenlinna that is an old fort-town in front of Finland’s capital Helsinki. This is what English IPAs are like, more than those American hop bombs. Not perfect, but very interesting and nice. Smell could be better and aftertaste more diverse, but still this has so much diversity in its taste – which is of course the most important part of beer – that I almost love this. But just almost.
